Today's Poets

While most people don't even think to sit down with a book of poetry in the traditional sense these days, many young people and Generation X types love to listen to hip-hop and rap music. While much of this genre gets abused in the media, and some of it should, much of it is poetry in the traditional sense. It is merely set to music, making it that more impressive in my mind. One of my favorite emcees today is Soulja Boy. This teenage sensation should go on to become one of the all time greats in the world of hip hop. From his choice lyrics to his new age dance moves, Soulja Boy has a complete package and is clearly destined for good things. His hit song, Crank Dat is one of my favorites and seems to be receiving a lot of playtime on the radio as well. I wish him nothing but success and if you have a chance, please be sure to listen to some of the lyricists like Soulja Boy who are making a name for themselves in the world of Hip Hop.
